International youth camp MediaCamp2009 finished its work.
The participants from three countries - Estonia, Germany, Russia, - compared their notes: "Everything was great!", "Thank you!", "I'm so happy! Honestly!", "I fell out of life for four days, my brain exploded, and now I'm trying to return!", "Thank you again for the very interesting workshop here in Petrozavodsk. I'm sure it was a great experience for all participants».
During four days from the 23rd to the 26th of October in Petrozavodsk the participants of MediaCamp2009 within the framework of the project "Journalism and Informational Technologies as the Resource for NGO Development" needed to take a dip into the world of mass-media and the Internet technologies, break stereotypes and language barriers, get acquainted with interesting people of Karelia, make interviews with them, divide into groups and create materials in three languages. The chosen topics were different: youth policy in Karelia and the "Hyperborea", modern art and "tricks" of the Media-centre, rock-festival and extreme kinds of sport, ice swimming in the lake Onego, ecological paths of the Vodlozersky National Park, electronic placement service and sightseeing in Petrozavodsk. The students made interviews with young and more experienced politicians, held an opinion poll in the streets, met the journalists of Karelian TV, radio, periodicals, editing house. They listened to outstanding performance of the students of Musical College during the jazz concert, and they had a chance to train Russian at the play "Eight women" staged by the University theatre.Nowadays Internet journalism is developing rapidly. One of the camp days was fully devoted to it. The creators and moderators of the web portal "Youth of Petrozavodsk (Oleg Kozhin and Elena Popova) and "The Youth Portal of Karelia" (Aleksey Marakhtanov, Natalia Bogdanova) made presentations and told the participants about the specifics and opportunities of Russian portals. Anna Rybalova, BRYC representative in Karelia, spoke about youth website of the Barents region and about programmes of cooperation with Norway, Sweden, and Finland for the year 2010. Mandy Buschina, coordinator of youth media programmes Word "Jugendpresse", described the forms of cooperation between Russia and Germany and presented the international portal in Russian and German TochkaTreff.
The participants especially liked the master class in photo creation given by Yulia Utysheva, meetings with the director of the media centre Vyhod Sergey Terentjev and the chairman of State Committee of the Republic of Karelia on Youth Affairs Maxim Mazurovsky. The representatives of Karelian NGOs - members of the historical reconstruction club Skal, International youth club Solveig, the society Veloextreme and others - also presented their work.
According to the decision of the jury the team №2 (Hannah Kunde and Alina Kotovich) became the winners of the photo-cross. The articles written by the participants will be published on Russian and European websites in Russian, English, German.

(the Association of young journalists in Germany), the State Committee on Youth Affairs in the Republic of Karelia, the Ministry of Culture and Public Relations in the Republic of Karelia, Media-centre Vyhod, the Centre of Youth Employment, the Vodlozersky National Park.
